Education

A total of 3.1 million children will need access to education services in 2020. This includes an estimated 3 million South Sudanese girls and boys who are estimated to be out of school and have no access to pre-school, primary and secondary education in 2020 (HNO,2019/2020). Majority of the out-of-school children are living in pastoral communities, moving with their cattle and are not able to attend regular classes. Being out of school exposes girls to early or forced marriage while boys are at risk of join gangs or getting
recruited in armed groups.
At MaCDA, we not only advocate for enrollment and retention of boys and girls in schools but also work with education partners to provide learning, teaching and recreation materials to pupils and teachers. Other activities meant to ensure inclusive and quality access to learning include Back to Learning Campaigns, Girl Child awareness raising, construction/ rehabilitation of learning spaces and wash facilities, training of teachers, parent teachers associations and school management committees.
